The NHS Long Term Plan says that when organisations work together they provide better care for the public. That is why, on 1 April 2019, NHS Improvement and NHS England united as one – our aim, to provide leadership and support to the wider NHS. Nationally, regionally and locally, we champion frontline staff who provide a world-class service, and constantly work to improve the care given to the people of England.
Our health and care needs today are different from those the current health and care system was designed to address and therefore we must adapt to these changes. At a local level, NHS organisations, councils and other parties across England are joining forces to integrate services, expand the workforce and to invest in ways to prevent illness and keep people out of hospital. Their aim is that people can live healthier lives and get the care and treatment they need, in the right place, at the right time.
