Julia Mullaney

Advanced Nurse Practitioner, Darwen Health Centre

Julia Mullaney, Advanced Nurse Practitioner Darwen healthcare, Nurse Lead for Darwen Primary Care Network, Nurse Ambassador for Pennine Lancashire Training Hub. 

Julia has a long standing history in community based nursing since qualifying in 2005 from the University of Central Lancashire.  From Community Staff Nurse she went on to successfully complete her BSc (Hons) in Community Specialist Nursing Practice and was a District Nursing team leader for over 5 years. From there Community Matron and went on to then complete the PG Cert in Advanced Clinical Practice.

Julia now works as an Advanced Nurse Practitioner, specialising in frailty and palliative care in General Practice in Darwen, Lancashire.  She has successfully secured funding for projects with the Queens Nursing Institute for the last two years. These were around improving access to services for the homeless, and the improvement in healthcare for people living with frailty.  As a qualified Practice Teacher Julia has a passion for teaching and education and is an ambassador for the Pennine Lancashire Training Hub.  Julia works to ensure learning environments are effective and conducive to provide an opportunity to meet the educational needs of the multi-disciplinary primary care team, bringing together NHS organisations, community, local authorities and education establishments.
