Professor Mike Holmes

Partner at Haxby Group and Chair of Trustees at the RCGP

Mike has been a GP Partner at Haxby Group for over 20 years; a large practice caring for almost 100,000 patients across York, Hull and Scarborough.

He has led the development of and now is the Chair at Nimbuscare Ltd – a GP Led provider organisation, bringing together all GP practices in the city of York, caring for a population of 250,000 people. Nimbuscare delivers a wide range of services on a citywide footprint many on a collaborative basis. During the Covid 19 Pandemic Nimbuscare provided both a Local and a National Vaccination Centre on a collocated site in York delivering over 600,000 vaccinations over a 12 month period.

Mike is currently the Chair of the Trustee Board at the Royal College of General Practitioners having previously been a Vice Chair of the College Council (2018-21). He contributed to the NHS Health and Wellbeing offer for Primary Care during the Pandemic and now Chairs the national steering group for the ‘looking after you too’ range of offers.

He holds a number of other roles; He is an Honorary Professor in the Department of Health Sciences at the University of York, a Trustee at St Leonard’s Hospice in York and is a member of the York Health and Care Partnership within the Humberside and North Yorkshire ICS.

Mike was privileged to have been given the General Practitioner of the Year award in 2022.
